On June 10, 2025, ABC News fired reporter Terry Moran after he posted a message on X that criticized President Donald Trump. The post also targeted Stephen Miller, a key advisor to the president.

ABC News said in a statement, “We ended our contract with Terry Moran because his recent X post broke our rules. At ABC News, we expect our reporters to be fair, honest, and professional. We are committed to delivering trustworthy news.”

The issue started on June 8 when Moran, who is 65 years old, called President Trump and Miller “world-class haters” in a post on X. The post was later deleted. In it, Moran wrote that Miller’s hatred is like “spiritual food” for him. He also said Trump uses hatred to make himself look better.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the post “unacceptable” and said they contacted ABC News to ask how they would handle Moran’s actions. Soon after, ABC News suspended Moran while they reviewed the situation. They later decided to fire him, saying his post was not fair and did not represent the views of ABC News.

Just a month ago, Moran and President Trump had a tense moment during an interview in the Oval Office. The interview was part of a special program about Trump’s first 100 days in his second term as president. They talked about topics like the economy, immigration, and foreign policy.

During the interview, they discussed Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man who was wrongly deported to El Salvador in March. Trump claimed that a photo showing Garcia with MS-13 gang tattoos was real. Moran said the photo was edited, which led to a heated exchange. Trump told Moran, “Wait a minute, Terry. Don’t do that.” He also said he picked Moran for the interview because he had never heard of him, adding, “You’re not being very nice.”

This event marks another clash between the media and the Trump administration, which began its second term in January 2025.
