Clearlake, California – A 14-year-old boy named Andrew Roberts was found dead on Sunday, June 8, 2025, after he went missing during a group trip in California. The sad news came just hours after he was reported missing.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, divers from the North Shore Dive Team found Andrew’s body around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday. The boy was last seen around 4:15 p.m. that day in the Big Beach area of Hidden Valley Lake. He had told others in his group that he was going to the pool, but no one heard from him after that.
The sheriff’s office has not shared details about what caused Andrew’s death.
Andrew had just finished 8th grade at Obsidian Middle School and was excited about starting high school. School officials described him as a kind and warm-hearted teen who was loved by his teachers and friends. “Andrew brought joy to our school. His kind spirit and bright smile touched everyone who knew him. We will miss him deeply,” the school said in a statement. They also spelled his last name as “Robert.”
The school is offering support to students and staff to help them cope with this loss. “Our hearts go out to Andrew’s family and friends during this very sad time,” the school added. “We will always remember Andrew and honor his life.”
Several groups helped search for Andrew, including the North Shore Dive Team, Lake County Search and Rescue, KCORP, CAL FIRE, South Lake Fire, Hidden Valley Security, and a K9 officer.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office shared their sadness, saying, “We send our deepest condolences to Andrew’s family, friends, and the whole community during this difficult time.”
