A mother has been arrested and charged with murder after police found her story about her daughter’s kidnapping was not true. This happened in Newark, Delaware, and the case is now being investigated as a homicide.

On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, Darrian Randle, 31, told police her 3-year-old daughter, Nola Dinkins, was kidnapped. She said she stopped her car to comfort Nola, who was upset. Randle claimed a man with a gun approached her car, took Nola, and left in a dark SUV driven by a woman. Police issued an Amber Alert to find the missing child.

However, after investigating, the New Castle County Police (NCCPD) and the FBI found Randle’s story was false. On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Amber Alert was canceled, and Randle was arrested. She faces serious charges, including first- and second-degree murder and child abuse leading to the death of a child under 13. She was also charged with lying to the police.

Police also arrested Cedrick Antoine Britten, 44, Randle’s boyfriend, from North East, Maryland. He faces charges for helping cover up the crime and not reporting the child’s death. Both Randle and Britten are in custody. Randle is being held at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution with a $1,000,000 bail. Her court hearing is set for Monday, June 23, 2025.

On Wednesday afternoon, Maryland State Police found human remains in a vacant lot in North East, Maryland, near Randle’s last known address. The remains appear to be those of a young child, but police are waiting for autopsy results to confirm the identity.

The investigation continues, and police are working to uncover more details about Nola’s death. This tragic case has shocked the community, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
