Lizzo Fights Back: Grammy-Winning Singer Denies Outrageous Claims in Explosive Lawsuit

Grammy-winning singer Lizzo has responded to the recent lawsuit filed by three of her former dancers, denying all the claims made against her. The lawsuit alleged that she had created a hostile work environment through denigrating behavior and body-shaming. Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, took to the social media platform X to address the accusations, stating that they were “false” and “outrageous.”

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuses Lizzo, her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc, and Shirlene Quigley, the captain of her dance team, of harassment based on sex, religion, race, and disability.

Lizzo asserted that the allegations were made by three former employees who had been previously informed about their inappropriate and unprofessional conduct before leaving her employment. While she usually chooses not to respond to false allegations, Lizzo felt compelled to address these particularly unbelievable and distressing claims.

The plaintiffs in the case, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, claimed that they were coerced into inappropriate situations, such as touching nude performers at an Amsterdam strip club in late February. Davis also alleged that she was pressured to participate in a nude photo shoot, fearing job loss if she did not comply with Lizzo’s alleged requests.

Lizzo clarified that she is open with her sexuality and self-expression but cannot accept or allow people to misrepresent her true character. She also emphasized that she would never terminate an employee based on their weight, as she understands what it’s like to experience body-shaming herself.

On the other hand, the plaintiffs’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, accused Lizzo of body-shaming her dancers and subjecting them to demeaning behavior, which he deemed illegal and demoralizing. Lizzo responded by expressing her empathy towards those who have experienced body-shaming and refuted the claims made against her.

The lawsuit also includes allegations against Shirlene Quigley, who was accused of imposing her religious beliefs on the dancers against their will and publicly revealing personal details about one of the plaintiffs, Davis, on social media without consent.

As of now, representatives for Quigley have not responded to requests for comments.

According to the lawsuit, Arianna Davis and Crystal Williams were eventually dismissed, while Noelle Rodriguez chose to resign due to the behavior they experienced.

Lizzo’s response on social media sheds light on her perspective on the matter, as she denies any wrongdoing and condemns the serious allegations made against her and her team. The legal proceedings will likely continue as both parties present their evidence and arguments in court.
