On Wednesday, Elon Musk said he feels bad about some of his recent posts on X about President Donald Trump.
“I’m sorry for some of my posts about President Trump last week. They were too much,” Musk wrote on X.
Last week, Musk and Trump had a big public argument. They posted mean things about each other on social media. Before this, Musk was close to Trump and helped lead a government team to cut federal jobs.
But their friendship broke when Musk called Trump’s new tax cut and policy bill a “disgusting abomination.” He said it would hurt the U.S. government’s money. Musk also shared old comments from Trump and other leaders about government spending worries.
After Musk said sorry, Tesla’s stock price went up 2% before trading started.
Musk also made a serious claim last week. He said Trump’s name was in files about Jeffrey Epstein, a man convicted of bad crimes who died in jail in 2019. Musk didn’t show proof, and just being named in those files doesn’t mean someone did something wrong.
Trump fought back, saying on his Truth Social platform that he could cancel government deals with Musk’s companies. Last Friday, Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash he wasn’t thinking about Musk and wouldn’t talk to him for a while. On a podcast called “Pod Force One,” Trump said he was disappointed in Musk but had no hard feelings. “I don’t know what his problem is,” Trump said.
Trying to Fix Things
Recently, Musk has been calmer. He deleted some of his meanest posts, including the one about Epstein. He also agreed with a post by investor Bill Ackman, who said Musk and Trump should make peace.
Musk also showed support for Trump’s tough stance on protests in Los Angeles caused by immigration raids. He posted American flags in response to a post by Vice President JD Vance, who said the president won’t allow riots or violence. Musk has always supported strong borders and stopping illegal immigration, just like Trump.
Musk didn’t say exactly which posts he regretted. His apology came after his father, Errol Musk, said Elon made a mistake by fighting with Trump. In a video with a Russian newspaper, Errol said, “Trump will win. He is the president.” Errol, who doesn’t get along well with Elon, believes they will make up soon. “It’s a small thing. It will be over soon,” he said.
